Your wine experience begins at the Hotel Restaurant Seehof in Walenstadt. Here, you’ll receive your backpack with everything you need. The route takes you through a varied landscape: lakeside paths, open woodlands, and lookouts offering sweeping views over the vineyards and the lake. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of lovely spots to stop and enjoy a tasting. The experience is complemented by snacks (depending on the backpack you choose) and entertaining information via an audio guide—about viticulture, the region, and what makes this landscape so special. Whether alone, as a couple, or with friends: this wine hike is ideal for anyone who wants to combine enjoyment with exercise.

A rucksack is designed for up to 4 people. How many rucksacks you book depends entirely on how thirsty and hungry you are.

To listen to the audio guides, you’ll need your cell phone; headphones are optional (please bring your own)
The wine tasting is for adults 16 and older
We recommend lightweight hiking boots for the hike
We recommend bringing your own backpack for extra drinks and clothing
Along the way, you’ll pass the idyllic Grotto Kaliforni. There, following your wine tour, you’ll have the opportunity to taste additional wines from the Casanova Weinpur winery in the open vineyard. The Grotto is open on weekends and during the week by request for groups.

After your wine tasting, enjoy dinner at Restaurant Seehof (reservations recommended)

Route description

Note: The audio guides are not tied to the suggested route. If you prefer a different route or would like to enjoy the wine and the audio guide in the same place, this is no problem. However, we recommend that you follow the order of the audio guides.
Arrival by public transport: We recommend traveling by public transport to Walenstadt train station. Take the B442 bus in the direction of Flums, Bahnhof to the bus stop Walenstadt, Hafen. Then walk approx. 90 meters to the Hotel Restaurant Seehof. By car: Paid parking available at the Hotel Restaurant Seehof.

A total of 5 backpacks are available per day. Each backpack is designed to hold gear for up to 4 people.
