The Tamina Gorge and the Old Baths of Pfäfers are open seasonally. The season runs from May to October.

Please note that access to the Quellschlucht gorge is not possible outside these times. Please note: The Tamina Gorge or Badtobelstrasse may be closed at short notice. Therefore, please check the current accessibility.

Access to the Old Baths of Pfäfers and the Tamina Gorge is possible by post bus every hour from Bad Ragaz station at xx:35 (except 12:35), by horse-drawn carriage, or on foot. Cars, bicycles, and e-scooters are prohibited along the entire route.

The Tamina Gorge can be reached via various hiking trails. The most popular and frequently used route leads from Bad Ragaz via Badtobelstrasse to the Old Baths in Pfäfers.

The hike takes around 1.5 hours, depending on your starting point and walking speed.

From Bad Ragaz train station, it is 5.5 kilometers and just under 200 meters of elevation gain (one way only).

Admission to the Tamina Gorge costs CHF 5.00 per person. Adults and children pay the same price. Tickets can be purchased on site with cash or credit card.

No, it is prohibited to drive to the Tamina Gorge by car or bicycle. There is a general driving ban (including bicycles) from Badstrasse in Bad Ragaz to the Tamina Gorge. For this reason, the gorge can only be reached on foot, by public post bus, or by horse-drawn carriage (individual trips).

Yes, you can also visit the Tamina Gorge with a baby carriage. You can pick up a key to get through the turnstile at the kiosk in the Alte Bad Pfäfers.

Dogs are allowed on the Badtobelstrasse (between Bad Ragaz and the Alter Bad Pfäfers). Dogs are not allowed from the turnstile to the Tamina Gorge. We ask for your understanding.

The Alte Bad Pfäfers is a historic building, most of which can only be reached by stairs. The access road from Bad Ragaz to the Alter Bad Pfäfers and the Tamina Gorge is not suitable for people with limited mobility. We ask for your understanding.

Yes, it is possible to take a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Tamina Gorge. The round trip takes approximately 1.5 hours and can be booked daily from May to October. The carriage is available for a maximum of 5 hours. Admission to the gorge (CHF 5.00 per person) is not included in the price. Yes, there are both public and private tours.

Private tour: $170.00 per group, plus $4.00 admission per person. Starts at the Old Baths in Pfäfers, bookable directly online.
Public tour: Adults $25.00, children aged 6–15 $15.00, children under 5 $5.00. Booking via Heidiland Tourism.
