When cows return to the valley festively decorated, Heidiland becomes a stage for living tradition. The individual Alpine descents attract thousands of onlookers in the various villages. The most famous alpine descents in the region are those in Mels. But Flums also lives this tradition in a spectacular way. Experience the colorful alpine descents, enjoy regional specialties and immerse yourself in genuine customs. Discover where and when you can experience this special event!

The highlight of the Alpine summer

Every September, the herdsmen return from the various alps with their cattle to their owners. Hard-working helpers ensure in advance that the cattle look their best on the day of their departure. Colorfully decorated with Tschäppel (headgear) and Plümpen (bells), the animals make this experience a real highlight.
