Vättis

The former farming village with around 410 inhabitants nestles gently in green meadows bordered by the mighty peaks of Calanda, Simel and Drachenberg. Vättis is an ideal starting point for numerous hikes, be it towards the Kunkelspass or into the Calfeisental valley with the Gigerwald reservoir, the Walser settlement of St. Martin and the Sardona glacier in the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona. But the village itself also has a lot to offer, be it the stone sculpture trail, the Drachenloch Museum or the Tamina hunting area. In winter, when the white splendor brings silence over Vättis, it is quite fascinating here. Winter hikes or snowshoe tours are particularly enjoyable in the enchanting winter landscape. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, there are two trails in Vättis covering a total of 20 km.
