Klingenhorn Wynegg castle ruins, Malans
The Klingenhorn Wynegg castle ruins in Malans are a historic site separated from the mountainside by a moat. The tower has been preserved up to three storeys, but is in poor condition and overgrown with undergrowth.
The castle mound is separated from the hillside by a neck ditch, which may have been artificially widened. The tower is preserved up to a height of three storeys, the uppermost part is in poor structural condition and overgrown with undergrowth. Individual traces of Rasa-Pietra plaster with joint lines are visible. Traces of plaster and beam holes have also been preserved inside the tower, from which the height of the storeys can be read. The inside of the tower is covered in rubble and undergrowth. An embrasure window on the first floor was broken out to form a narrow entrance to the tower. On the second floor, the high entrance was walled up, next to it there are two smoke vents and a narrow embrasure. The purpose of the wall opening on the third floor is no longer recognizable. To the west, the walls of an outbuilding have been preserved. The remains of the stonework mentioned by Clavadetscher/Meyer are barely recognizable. On the north side, beam holes point to further buildings. To the west, there was a large outer bailey on a lower terrace.
