Gräpplang castle ruins
On the castle hill stand the ruins of the medieval knight's castle, which the Lords of Flums built around 1220 on the "crap long," or "long rock." After several feudal owners, the castle fell to Zurich in 1419. In 1440, it was destroyed by troops from Glarus and Schwyz. Ludwig Tschudi bought the fortress in 1528, but after extensive construction work, it had to be sold again in 1767 due to financial problems. Several owners followed until the castle, now in a state of disrepair, was sold for demolition in 1804. In 1923, the municipality of Flums acquired, renovated, and maintained the ruins.
The legends "Schloss Gräpplang" and "Der böse Burgherr" show that not all castle lords were good lords. Both tell of a tyrant who took advantage of his subjects. Enter the well-restored ruins and transport yourself back to earlier times. The walls and indented staircases give you a good impression of the castle. Enjoy the view from the large upper room. Here you will find a powerful place that is suitable as a place of worship due to its energy quality. The place was certainly too strong for the inhabitants of the castle. If one of the evil lords of the castle dined here or even slept here, we can well imagine his imbalance, which developed into tyranny.
At the fireplace in the former castle courtyard you will find another place of power with cult qualities. The intensity of its energy is significantly higher than in the rest of the castle. Finds prove that the site has been visited by people since before the Neolithic Age.
