Bad Ragaz
Bad Ragaz is a modern spa resort at the gateway to Graubünden. The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz with the Tamina Therme, restaurants, golf courses and a casino forms the center. Regular events and cultural activities complete the offer.
Bad Ragaz’s rise to prominence as a world-class spa resort began in 1840, when the 36.5-degree thermal water from the Tamina Spring was channeled for the first time from the “ Taminaschlucht (Tamina Gorge) ” four kilometers down the valley to the Ragaz farmstead. Famous spa guests such as Rainer Maria Rilke, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, Thomas Mann, and Victor Hugo subsequently graced the former farming village with their presence. Today, Bad Ragaz, located at the gateway to the canton of Graubünden, is a modern health resort with numerous recreational and wellness facilities. The centerpiece of this wellness oasis—which bears the Swiss “Wellness Destination” quality label—is the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, featuring the public thermal spa Tamina Therme, restaurants, golf courses, and a casino. Regular events such as the Bad RagARTz sculpture exhibition and cultural programs round out the offerings. “In the area surrounding Bad Ragaz, visitors are drawn to the local mountain Pizol, the “ Bündner Herrschaft ,” and the Tamina Valley with its many opportunities for excursions.”
