Exciting insights into the hidden world of bats
Use of modern technology to make bat calls audible
Exploration of Giessenpark at dusk
An experienced Swiss Ranger will take you on an exciting excursion to Giessenpark, where an above-average number of bat species live side by side. As we roam through the park in the evening, you will learn why bats are the only mammals that can actively fly—and with impressive precision. We will make their ultrasonic calls audible to us and learn how to distinguish between species based on their calls.
With a little luck, we will discover rare species such as the Alpine bat or observe the Daubenton's bat hunting mosquitoes. You will also learn exciting facts about the secret life of these fascinating animals—from their unique flight maneuvers to their still mysterious hibernation sites.
