Flumserberg mountain railroads

Daily through October 18, 2026, followed by limited operations

The Flumserberg is a good address for anyone suffering from fog. From Tannenboden, shorter and longer walks in the surrounding area are tempting. The best way to get up the mountain in the off-season is by post bus or car. Certain restaurants on the Tannenbodenalp are also open in the off-season (please check in advance).

Daily through October 18, 2026:
Cable cars and chairlifts in Bad Ragaz and Wangs
Daily from October 19–25, 2026:
Bad Ragaz Gondola

The Bad Ragaz gondola will be in operation on the weekends of October 31–November 1, 2026, and November 7–8 and 14–15, 2026, provided the hiking trails are not already covered in snow. The gondola facilities on the Wangsen side will be closed. At Pardiel (the upper station of the Bad Ragaz gondola lift), numerous attractions await sun-seeking day-trippers, such as the Prodkopf lookout point, the Heidi Trail, and the Edelweiss Trail with its reservoir.

Palfries mountain railroads

Daily through November 15, 2026

The Palfriesbahn takes visitors from the valley station at Ragnatsch between Mels and Flums to the Palfries plateau. Hiking and walking trails lead across the plateau with views of the mighty Churfirsten peaks and Lake Walen.

Älplibahn Malans

Daily through November 15, 2026

The iconic yellow gondolas of the Älplibahn in Malans will take you up to the mountains until November 15. The restaurant is also open daily until November 15. The mountain station is located at 1,800 meters, and from there, there are countless hiking trails. One of them leads to the Vilan viewpoint.

Vättnerberg cable car

Daily service through October 11, 2026
Weekend hours from October 12 to November 1, 2026

The Vättner Berg cable car in the Tamina Valley operates on weekends and holidays between October 12 and November 1. On weekdays, it runs by request. From the mountain station, you can hike to various destinations. Alp Findels is a 30-minute hike away, and for those looking for a more challenging hike, the trail to Monte Luna is highly recommended. The view of the imposing Ringelspitz, at 3,247 meters—the highest mountain in the canton of St. Gallen—is definitely a highlight!

Schönhalden cable car

Daily through November 1, 2026

The Schönhalden cable car will continue to operate daily through November 1. The restaurant and hotel are also open daily and are perfect for a stop. It’s a hidden gem—the views of the imposing Churfirsten mountains on the opposite side of the valley are definitely worth seeing.
