Walabütz waterfalls

Walabütz waterfalls
The Walabütz waterfalls in Weisstannen offer impressive natural spectacles. At 230 meters, the Isengrind Falls are among the highest waterfalls in Europe. The Mattbach Falls are also worth seeing at 75 and 65 meters.
An information point in the Walabütz basin provides information about the surrounding waterfalls. From the Scheubser Hinteralp, the Scheubsbach stream literally flies over the "Isengrind" wall into the Walabütz. Depending on the direction and strength of the wind, the water from the Isengrind falls into a channel to the north or south and flows down to the Seez. At 230 meters, the Isengrind Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Europe and is only 60 meters "smaller" than the famous Staubbach Falls near Lauterbrunnen. Also worth seeing are the two Mattbach Falls, which are 75 and 65 meters high respectively. As in Batöni, Kraftwerke Sarganserland AG collects the water below the falls and channels it through tunnels into the adjacent Calfeisental valley to feed the Gigerwald reservoir.
