Sächserseeli
The Sächserseeli lies at 2099 meters above sea level and is fed by underground springs. It offers a view of the 2523-metre-high Magerrain. A hike to the Spitzmeilenhütte and the Maadseeli is recommended.
The Sächserseeli lies at 2099 m above sea level. It has no surface inflow. It is therefore supplied with fresh water from underground springs. Some mountain lakes have become world-famous because a famous mountain is reflected in them. The Riffelsee near the Gornergrat, for example, in which an upside-down Matterhorn lies on windless days, or the Bachsee above Grindelwald, on whose waters the Schreckhorn doubles. The Sächserseeli, on the other hand, is relatively unknown. Perhaps this is because the 2523-metre-high Magerrain mountain reflected in the Sächserseeli does not quite match the fame of its counterparts in Valais and the Bernese Oberland. Tip: Combine a visit to the Sächserseeli with a hike to the Spitzmeilenhütte and the Maadseeli below.
