The three Murg Lakes are nestled in a wild and romantic valley basin and offer a breathtaking mountain landscape. The Lower Murg Lake is located in the heart of a protected Swiss stone pine reserve, whose pristine atmosphere is reminiscent of the Canadian wilderness. Between the Middle and Upper Murg Lakes lies the Murgsee Mountain Inn, a popular gathering place for hikers and anglers.

The shortest and easiest route starts in Murg on Lake Walen, along the Zurich–Chur route. From there, you can reach the Mornen parking lot (P9) at an elevation of about 1,200 meters above sea level either by car or by taking the Murg Valley bus (book through Taxi Walensee, tel. 079 735 30 00). The route is well-marked from Murg.

Starting tomorrow, a natural gravel path about 1.5 meters wide leads directly to the Murgsee Mountain Inn at 1,825 meters above sea level. The hike takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

The circular hike through the Mürtschen region is especially recommended. The starting point is the Bachlaui parking lot (P8) in the Murg Valley. The trails are well marked and are suitable even for less experienced hikers.
