St. Leonhard Chapel
The St. Leonhard Chapel in Bad Ragaz impresses with three altars and frescoes depicting St. Leonhard and other religious scenes. The vestibule commemorates the Battle of Ragaz in 1446.
A special feature of St. Leonhard's Chapel is that it has three altars. Various frescoes, which came to light during the renovation in 1981, show St. Leonhard as the church's patron saint, mysteries from Christ's youth, the coronation of Mary and St. Fridolin, to whom the right, south-western side altar is dedicated. The vestibule was set up as a memorial room for the Battle of Ragaz around 1446. It is richly illustrated and labeled. It takes some time and patience to read the battle history. Niklaus von der Flüh, better known as Brother Klaus, is said to have fought here.
