Flumserberg area
The Flumserberg area offers a fascinating landscape with intensively folded Lias rock layers and fossils. The moraines and old streams on Fursch are particularly visible in the evening light. With its gypsum and dolomite layers, Wissmeilen is reminiscent of a lunar landscape.
At Sächsmor and between Prodkamm (e.g. on the Geotrail) and Magerrain, the Lias rock layers - which in places contain fossils such as shells, belemnites and ammonites as well as beautiful sedimentary structures - are intensively folded. The moraines and old streams on Fursch are best visible in the evening light. At Wissmeilen, white gypsum and gray dolomite layers with little vegetation and gnarled rough rock towers are reminiscent of a lunar landscape.
